We spoke to The Expert in HHO Installation, in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada - about his experience installing and running HHO generators. Matt Gentry, of Matts Auto Electric, has been installing HHO Generators for 20 years - and has seen new interest explode this year as gas prices rise. Why does Matt's HHO solution make so much sense here? First: Toronto has a wide range of temperatures to contend with through the motoring year, and ... Second; Port Colbourne is a 40 minute off-rush commute from Toronto and this means that hundreds and maybe thousands of local residents here, run their cars through Class-E & F rush hour traffic for 2+ hours per day to get to work everyday. As it turns out, these conditions make the perfect audience for a quality HHO installation service. So what is Matt's advice in a nutshell? HHO works - but you have to do it right. Here are Matt's precautions: 1. Remember the weatherThe weather here isn't as cold as in US cities like Green Bay or Minneapolis. Think Detroit winters - and you get the picture. And our summers are hot - with temperatures above 100 F for several weeks every year. When you install water into a car that will experience winter freezing or high summer temperatures, you are going to have trouble. Matt recommends HHO generators with built-in heaters and a 5 Year Warrantee at minimum - he's a professional after all and he doesn't want problems for his clients. 2. Power Production and Management are KeyOn an eight cylinder vehicle, its probably going to take a second alternator and several HHO cells to get a sustainable benefit from your HHO Generation System. Wiring up a current shut-off gate is a must-have part of any HHO installation and Matt has seen a number of power saving tricks used by vehicle owners over the years - tricks such as disabling daytime running lights, running solar panels on the dashboard, to name just a couple. We can't overstate the importance of electrical shut-offs because they ensure that alternator current can rise and fall during the normal operation of your car. At the end of the day, you don't want to be stranded - and you don't want your battery blowing up nor discharging routinely. Matt puts every HHO installation car on a dynamo to test that the car's current is sufficient to operate both your vehicle AND your HHO system - reliably. 3. Quality generator installations aren't cheap:Speaking with considerable wisdom and experience, Matt explains that the internet videos that depict a $50 mason jar and stainless steel wiring producing HHO - are simply not going to work as advertised in most real world installations. The cheap HHO system will help clean-out your car's engine - and that will cause it to perform better, and with reduced gas mileage in the short-term. Your emissions also improve from these simple HHO generators - but you won't realize a great increase in fuel efficiency until the electrical efficiency of all HHO solutions improves dramatically. Matt only installs 5 year warranteed parts with heaters and sufficient electrical power to ensure that your car isn't going to leave you stranded. As a professional mechanic, he doesn't want trouble for you - or for him - so the system has got to be reliable first and foremost - and he has to be able to stand behind it. In broad stokes Matt explains that a 4 cylinder solution will run approximately $1200 installed; for a 6 cylinder engine add $500; and add probably another $500 to get your 8 cylinder vehicle running with true and sustainable fuel savings. In Summary:HHO Generation works - and a professional installation will pay for itself if you are running your car for an hour or more every day. The internet videos and seller websites are very good at making money for themselves - but buyer beware - if you are betting that a do-it-yourself solution is going to pay dividends after you pay their $60 fee for know-how, you could be setting yourself up for disappointment and vehicle problems. If you live in the Toronto area and are interested in a HHO Installation for your car, we recommend your first choice is Matt...
